Cassette Skeletons Rock
I can still remember buying my first cassette. There is no shame in admitting it was the soundtrack from Footloose. I actually visited all my cassettes when I was home in February – marveled at how I kept them neatly organized in their “holds 50″ carry bags. Of course the mix tapes were all in a plastic bag, but let’s not dwell.
‘Should I throw them out?’ I wondered. Then stuffed them in a box, sealed it, and pushed it to the back of the garage. I just couldn’t let them go.
Brian Dettmer has no such problem. The artist who gave us Book Autopsies a while back has now created these skeleton pieces from old cassettes. I particularly like the skull with Motley Crue’s “Shout at the Devil” for a jaw – seems apt. The skeleton is currently on display at the International Museum of Surgical Science. More photos here
