Proving there’s bark in the old dog yet, AC/DC get creative with sharing their music vid with fans. Unfortunately, my Mac version of excel wouldn’t play macros, but this youtube capture shows the result.

The blush of a Pink Lady
I blogged about my mate Matt’s exhibition “Meow Moo Woof” a while back. He’s just had a second exhibition called Pink Ladies, in Queanbeyan, Australia. Obviously, I couldn’t get there, but Matt was kind enough to send me some pics. Here’s just a few. Matt thinks he made some compromises due to time crunch – but isn’t that the way of all things? In his own words:
The cold Queanbeyan winter forced me to stay under the doona longer than I wanted, and then, sitting in front of the easel wearing a beanie, woolen jumper and jacket with a heater by my side did not inspire creativity. I have learned that operate best when the temperature is about 23 Celsius, a number impossible to achieve months on end unless I were rich or stole electricity. Hence big plans were reduced, and there are still 2 unfinished works sitting on the easel and 2 blank panels leaning against the wall. Oh well. It’s all discovery. Next year I won’t be hanging around all winter. I’ll be following the ducks or whatever, flying north.
This one is my favorite, and the “premiere” work from the collection.
This one sucked up so much time it’s not funny. I thought it was finished about 5 times but it got re worked and reworked and more refined. Just a little touch up here turned into a 4 hours of hard labour. Another tiny realignment there stretched one hour’s work into 5… etc, etc.
And this is a close second.
Apple in a wooden box, entombed in fibreglass resin, glowingly back-lit with a blue LED. Will it be preserved forever or will it be reduced to a captive rotting puddle of sludge? Who knows?
Congrats to Matt on getting something out into the world again!
Things that make you go “mmm, vote”
Sitting here watching Obama’s half hour ad, got me thinking about some of the great things that have happened because of this election. The comedy, the art, the drive behind getting people to vote. Here are just a few things I’ve really enjoyed or have made me laugh.
The laugh category
1. Terry Tate: Reading is Fundamental
Awesome rebirth of the Terry Tate superbowl spot.
An unfortunate pose by McCain as he walked into the debate, a quick snap by a photographer and what have ya got? Photoshop or animated gif GOLD! Once they get the standard ’sex poses’ out of the way, some very creative ones start turning up.
3. The Palin SNL rap
4. Pretty much every night on The Daily Show
.
5. Obama-McCain dance off
Love the ballerina move by McCain.
Updated daily with a new piece of interactive goodness. I think my fav is the red phone.
Things that inspire you to vote
1. Craig Ferguson – If you don’t vote, you’re a moron
Ah, my late night crush. But also an expatriate Scotsman now American. A Scotsican? This will be his first time voting and I’m jealous as all getup. Listen to both sides, make your choice, then vote. Simple.
2. Sarah Silverman and The great Schlep
The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo.
Basically, she rallied the jewish troops to get on down to Florida, educate the grandparents about Obama, and get the state to swing in his favor.
3. Mos Def “If I were president”

Some artsy stuff
The election is rockin’ around Halloween. Now you can carve an Obama pumpkin.
2. Batobama

3. MC Yogi – Vote for Hope

Shepard Fairey has influenced of alot of art produced during this election. This is just one example, but you can find ‘em all over.
There’s so much more, but these are just a few of my favs. Most exciting election ever. I actually watched all debates.
Robot designs for tomorrow
Just think about that for a minute. A robotic chum seal to get the shark frenzy going. God knows, I wouldn’t want to bob around in the ocean for longer than necessary. Let’s just get the shark death over with.
Robot designs of tomorrow is a new venture by my buddy Charles. In its infancy, I hope he keeps it up. Obviously lots of insanity going on in his brain – he needs to share that with the world.
Keep it up, chazbot!
Bloggin’ ’bout myself
It’s been almost 1 year since I wrote my last entry on The Subterranean Homesick Noos. It’s a disgrace. I feel lowly because of it. However, last night I got off my couch and finished up the first part of a two-parter about my recent meander across America. Weird to blog about my other blog, but no one else is gonna toot my trumpet for me, so here goes.

Fun with mirrors
Audience from Chris O'Shea on Vimeo.
Nice installation piece by Chris O’Shea. The mirrors doddle around, minding their own business until they find a body to focus on. They then give that body their rapt attention.
When members of the audience occupy the space, the mirrors inquisitively follow someone that they find interesting. Having chosen their subject, they all synchronise and turn their heads towards them. Suddenly that person can see their reflection in all of the mirrors. They will watch this person until they become disinterested, then either seek out another subject or return to their private chatter. The collective behaviour of the objects is beyond the control of the viewer, as it is left entirely to their discretion to let go of their subject. Read more here

Imagining an interface for the suit – now there’s a challenge. Nice look into the thought and creative process behind a task like this. Go watch.

Bjorn hypnotizer.
Hypnotizing, just like watching the production line in a candy or soda factory. Mechanized choreography is beautiful too!
Created in 2006 by Danish director Niels Fyrst to an unreleased track by Bjørn Svin entitled ‘Modular Noia’. Higher res here.

Obama be. McCain be.
I appreciate the level of commitment that goes into something like this. Being against someone ’cause they’re old is pretty rough though. Poor John. But hey, that’s battle a battle rapper like Jelly!
