Pavement Picasso
Julian Beever draws freaky visual trickery on the pavement. Seen from the correct angle, it really comes out at you (or in some cases, sucks you down its rabbit hole). There’s something awesome about devoting so much time to creating the thing, only to see it wash or fade away over time.
The vid below shows a selection of his pavement work, but you can also head to his website for more. Mental Floss also has a few tidbits about the artist and how he does his voodoo.

On yer bike (and sing!)
The maiden voyage a Mundo bicycle rig with a tractor seat and piano mount, in readiness for the Bicycle Music Festival last weekend. Also check Rock the Bike for some down low glow and other nifty bike commuter gear.

The secret LEGO lair
Gizmodo has video and plenty of pics of the LEGO secret vault. This magical vault contains all LEGO sets ever made, all new, unused and kept in a temperature controlled vault. Awesome, non-embedable video – so go and watch it at Gizmodo. I mean, it’s awesome if you’re into that kinda stuff, which I guess I am.
Solar powered kinetic animal sculptures
I’m really digging on the giraffe at the 4 minute mark.
Is that a projector in your pocket?
When will then be now? Check out this lil’ demo by Johnny Lee on the potential of using flexible and foldable surfaces to project things. It uses infrared tracking and projection (tracking via the Wii Remote and IR LEDs).

Scratches in the dirt

Ok, no GPS fakery this time. Jim Denevan made the world’s largest freehand drawing on a dry lake in Nevada. It’s a bit of a whopper, measuring three miles across. As you can see, tis a pretty bunch of circly things.

When viewed from above, you get a better sense of the scale. Best part of the story for me is that it got washed away in a rainstorm the following week. Ah, nothing is permanent. Everything fades. Even dry lake beds have their drizzle days. I think there’s something in there for all of us.

Behold the circles, puny human! (Which is no way to talk about the artist, but here he stands in the very center of it.)
Go to Dark Roasted Blend for more pics of this particular piece, or the artist’s site for other works.
Phonographantasmascope
In the creator’s (Jim’s) words:
It is all live action and works by using the shutter speed of the camera rather than the rather irritating stroboscope methods other 3D Zoetropes use.
