Open Your Heart
I don’t think it’s the most ‘wow’ Michel Gondry vid, but I do <3 its simplicity. The song is ‘Open Your Heart’ by Mia Doi Todd, and the idea of a vid featuring multicolored outfitted peeps had been brewing in Gondry’s brain pot for many years, just waiting for the right song. It does fit it perfectly.

I kept meaning to post the original video with the marching band (which you could only embed via Vimeo, because their record label got all dumb about YouTube) Read the open letter from the band – it’s good). Since I’ve had it in a draft for quite a long time, I figure I may as well post it now. So without FURTHER delay, here it is too. I likes ‘em both.

Each phone is individually addressed by a computer to cofunction and create a choral arrangement. Assigning each phone a tone, the mass is transformed into an aural form that appears to come alive, shimmering and flirting for onlookers.

This music video was shot for Sour’s ‘Hibi no Neiro’ (Tone of everyday) from their first mini album ‘Water Flavor EP’. The cast were selected from the actual Sour fan base, from many countries around the world. Each person and scene was filmed purely via webcam.
