There’s no other way to say this. This is fucking insane. A little bit science. A little bit art. A whole lotta ‘holy shit, my head just exploded’.
JoAnn Kuchera-Morin demos the AlloSphere, an entirely new way to see and interpret scientific data, in full color and surround sound inside a massive metal sphere. Dive into the brain, feel electron spin, hear the music of the elements and, detect previously unseen patterns that could lead to new discoveries.

This is mad hard to do, and you kind of look like a weirdo doing it, but it’s so cool. Ze Frank’s voice painting tool reacts to the volume of your voice and creates a drawing based on it. See some more here, or go try for yourself.

Ladies and gents, I bring you a short film by moi. It features:
It turned out better than I thought it would.
Not to get all geeky here, but this is cool. Or I just like wearing gloves. And gesturing. Um…

*The role of the lazy person will be played by me.
Boy, do I annoy myself sometimes. I can’t tell you how many times I said to myself, “Oh, don’t forget to go see Playing the Building before it ends”. I even told a bunch of people to go. And still, I remained lazy and couch-bound on the weekends.
AND NOW IT’S TOO LATE!
Lazy, lazy person who does not take advantage of the great things it’s possible to see in NYC. Bad girl! Oh, well. I guess there’s still time to go check out David Byrne’s bike racks. Might even hitch the bike up to one.
Oh, look. It’s a spoon designed to stir AND draw.

Kinda different to air guitar – there’s an actual instrument involved in this one. I can’t embed the video, but take a squiz at it in action.
A brief explanation:
Above the AirPiano is a virtual matrix of keys and faders, each assigned with MIDI messages and ready to be triggered. The length of a triggered note is equivalent to the time a hand is placed on the corresponding virtual key. This is also confirmed by LED feedback.

The maiden voyage a Mundo bicycle rig with a tractor seat and piano mount, in readiness for the Bicycle Music Festival last weekend. Also check Rock the Bike for some down low glow and other nifty bike commuter gear.
In the creator’s (Jim’s) words:
It is all live action and works by using the shutter speed of the camera rather than the rather irritating stroboscope methods other 3D Zoetropes use.

The Trons practicing “Sister Robot” in the lounge before their up and coming Ignition Fringe Festival shows.
Which is to say, it will kick your arse. Welcome to your videogame-looking future.
